The essay aims to explain, through relation and drawings, the process that led to the critical redrawing of the New Science Museum in Rome. In order to understand the 1983 project, it was necessary to establish the key points of Maurizio Sacripanti’s design process. The first part is entirely addressed to the biography, specifically analyzing the salient points of his life and considering the artistic and literary influences that at that time gravitated in the Roman context. The second part analyzes Sacripanti’s thought in order to understand every facet of his architectural language, together with the study of the most significant projects, in order to draw the necessary conclusions about his modus operandi. In the final part of the essay, a critical reflection on the project for the New Science Museum is carried out, starting from the exhibition “5 Billions of years ago”, up to the elaboration of the drawings came to us, associated with the critical re-drawing in charge that will analyze the composition, volumes and spaces in detail, in order to compare the drawings of 1983 with the realized works, revisiting some aspects to ensure the completeness of the unbuilt project, which represents one of the most ambitious and revolutionary works of Sacripanti.

Abstract
