LA RIQUALIFICAZIONE DEI COMPLESSI INDUSTRIALI DISMESSI: LA FABBRICA TESSILE GULÌ A PALERMO

The abandoned remains of the Gulì textile factory in Palermo stands today as memory, from which it is possible to still read the history, through the spaces and construction techniques used, of an example of absolute innovation for that time. The paper presents the outcomes of a studio research conducted by the University of Palermo, aimed at defining the history and characteristics of the industrial complex. The interdisciplinary planning appraisal and the outcomes obtained are also outlined, in the hope that the current situation can move towards a responsible and informed project for the benefit of the collectivity. The proposed architectural project has combined the needs of children, thanks to the help of the doctors who follow them, and the required rspect of the history of the fabric and the city, which shall take into account such important 'pages' of its History.
