Féerie et désanchantement. Palerme arabe et grecque d’Anna de Noailles

In 1908 Anna de Noailles starts a tour of Sicily that triggers her real emotions. Palermo is the primary source of her poetic inspiration to such an extent that out of the twelve poems about Sicily, included in the section Les Climats of the collection Les Vivants et les Morts (1913), four are dedicated to Palermo whereas in the other three there are some references to this town, which backgrounds the draft of her novel, Octave. However, disenchant, which emerges from her poems and which indicates a deeper existential anxiety, increasingly takes the place of the initial charm.

Nel 1908, Anna de Noailles intraprende un giro della Sicilia che suscita in lei vive emozioni. Palermo è la fonte privilegiata della sua profusione poetica, a tal punto che dodici delle poesie sulla Sicilia, parte della sezione Les Climats e della raccolta Les Vivants et le Morts (1913), quattro hanno come tema Palermo e altre tre fanno del capoluogo siciliano la tela di fondo. Palermo serve inoltre da sfondo a una bozza di romanzo, Octave. L'incanto iniziale si trasforma tuttavia pian piano in un disincanto che serpeggia in tutti suoi componimenti e che è traccia di una più profonda angoscia esistenziale.
