Lucio Anneo Seneca. Ad Lucilium epistula 85 (introduzione, traduzione e commento)

The writing of interiority and of parenesi in which the letters of Seneca to Lucilio are placed sums up and conveys the Foucault concept of Self-culture characterized by an art of existence dominated by the principle according to which we must take care of ourselves in order to be of benefit for others. That care self-defines itself in the hard conquest of one's own psycho-physical state of health, sanctioned by the synergetic effects of body and soul therapies and it authorizes the research of ethical health therapies functional to the man well-being in its entirety (physical exercise, attention to dietetic regimes, practices of rethink of universal truths functional to self discipline and to the balance of 'psychic ego'). That 'self-exercise' produces 'self-writing' which finds its full literary reconversion in the epistle-style of the letter 85 by Seneca.
