THE ANTIQUARIAN COLLECTION OF BOOKS, PRINTS AND DRAWINGS OF THE MUSAC AT PALAZZO LA ROCCA, RAGUSA IBLA-The Museum of the History of Architecture and Construction in the Mediterranean (Musac), hosted at Palazzo La Rocca in Ragusa Ibla, near the Cathedral of San Giorgio, features a rich antiquarian collection of rare books, treatises, prints and drawings. The collection that has been created over time is largely the result of acquisitions through European projects in which the Department of Architecture of Palermo (DARCH) has participated and a large body of drawings and prints from private collections given to the museum. This diverse material is currently being catalogued through the preparation of cards of which a template is provided on this occasion. The iconographic and bibliographic collection covers the fields of architecture, decoration, construction and stone masonry, often of international origin but always relating to works in Sicily in terms of affinity of contents and other implications. The collection, in fact, aims to facilitate the understanding of the relationship between architecture and science, as well as to philologically explain the processes through which models that shaped production in Sicily in the Middle Ages and the modern era were received and applied.
