In this paper, the cinema of the 1950s is investigated as a mean of consuming product and as a way for socializing the Italian masses and as a comparison between the industrialized north and the south still predominantly agricultural, but also between urban and rural areas, between classes and between different genres. Following the history of Italian cinema in the “longest decade of the short century”, from neorealism to melò to comedy, it became clear that this cinema was coming into the italian’s families lives habits, redesigning identities and building new imaginers. Despite the different approach of Italian families going to the cinema, this was experienced as a source of education that helped them to build new educational styles and opened their eyes to unprecedented educational horizons.
