Quali confini per l'autodeterminazione?

The article deals with the theme of assisted suicide In relation to the ongoing debate in the Protestant Churches in Europe and in the Protestant Italian Churches. I fully acknowledge the position of the European Protestant Christian churches who refuse suicide always and in any case, without condition, while favoring terminal sedation when there is no other chance of soothing the suffering of the terminal sufferer. The recent document of the Italian Methodist, Valdese and Baptist Italian Bioethics Commission recognizes active euthanasia in certain and limited circumstances and conditions. As a member of the committee I took part in the work, but being clearly in disagreement with the Commission's majority position, I voted against its approval, along with two other member. In this interview I explain the motives and recourse as well as a theological reasoning , even to a converging philosophical, which I try to explain.

L'articolo tratta il tema del suicidio assistito In relazione al dibattito in corso nelle Chiese protestanti europee e nelle Chiese protestanti Italiane. Io mi riconosco pienamente nella posizione delle chiese cristiane protestanti europee che rifiutano il suicidio assistito sempre e comunque, senza condizione, mentre sono invece favorevoli alla sedazione terminale quando non ci sia più nessun’altra possibilità di lenire la sofferenza del malato terminale. Il recentissimo documento della Commissione nazionale italiana di bioetica delle chiese valdese metodista e battista riconosce invece legittima l'eutanasia attiva in determinate e ristrette circostanze e condizioni. In quanto componente della commissione ho partecipato ai lavori, ma essendo in netto disaccordo con la posizione maggioritaria della Commissione, ho votato contro la sua approvazione, insieme ad altri due componenti punto in questa intervista spiego le motivazioni e ricorro, oltre che a una motivazione teologica, anche a una filosofica convergente, che cerco di spiegare.
