Tutela e Restauri Italiani nell'Isola di Rodi (1912-1945)

In 1912, with the Italian occupation of the island of Rhodes and the nearby islands of the Aegean Sea, he began a period of study and restoration work that has contributed in a significant way, to the preservation of the vast archaeological heritage, first of all Greek and Roman architecture and medieval and Early Renaissance, made by the Knights of Rhodes or St. John, Knights of Malta today. Among the many protagonists who have distinguished themselves in action for the protection and restoration, they emerge the engineer Pietro Loiacono, Che in the studio, among other things, also the remains of medieval architecture during your stay in Rhodes, between the 1932 and 1935. Thanks to the work of Pietro Loiacono if today the cultural heritage of Rhodes is preserved, enjoyed and appreciated, for our generation but for the generations that will follow us.

Nel 1912, con l’occupazione italiana dell’Isola di Rodi e delle vicine isole del Mar Egeo, iniziò un periodo di studi e d’interventi di restauro che ha contribuito, in maniera rilevante, alla conservazione del vasto patrimonio archeologico, innanzi tutto greco e romano e dell’architettura medievale e proto rinascimentale realizzata dai Cavalieri di Rodi o di San Giovanni, oggi Cavalieri di Malta. Fra i tanti protagonisti che si sono distinti nell’azione di tutela e restauro, emerge l’ingegnere Pietro Loiacono, che studiò, fra l’altro, anche i resti dell’architettura medievale nel corso del suo soggiorno a Rodi, tra il 1932 e il 1935. Dobbiamo a studiosi come Pietro Loiacono se oggi il patrimonio culturale di Rodi è conservato, fruito e valorizzato, per la nostra generazione, ma anche per le generazioni che ci seguiranno.
