Il fronte a mare di Palermo attraverso i secoli

The essay traces the milestones of the interventions on the water-front of Palermo, through an analysis of the major urban transformations and the buildings that characterize it. The research was largely based not only on bibliographic sources, but also on a rich iconographic apparatus consists of maps, engravings, paintings and photographs that testify significantly the condition of these places prior to the transformations that have permanently altered the original configuration.

Il saggio ripercorre le tappe degli interventi sul fronte a mare di Palermo, attraverso l'analisi delle grandi trasformazioni urbane e degli edifici che lo caratterizzano. La ricerca è stata in gran parte basata non solo sulle fonti bibliografiche, ma anche su un ricco apparato iconografico composto da mappe, incisioni, dipinti e fotografie che testimoniano in modo significativo le condizioni dei luoghi prima delle trasformazioni che in modo permanente ne hanno alterato la configurazione originaria.
