Abstract

Cities are composed of different systems each one with its own life cycle. Retail systems contribute to cities’ sustainability. In Italy, during the last two decades, the retail system has suffered the threat of large-Scale retail trade and e-commerce. The consumer’s behaviour has changed during these years. In order to overcome the crisis that has made the historical center less interesting from a retailing and commercial point of view, in this paper we analyze crisis response strategies and in particular the proposal of temporary shops.
