The smart city model is here described according to the most recent studies on the topic. Indices and numerical features concretely evaluate the different aspects of this model in two analyses whose results are reported and commented in this chapter.Technological and inter-connected, but also sustainable, comfortable, attractive, safe, in one word “smart”: this is how the smart city looks like, a model of city on which, in Europe and in the world, governments are betting to provide a balanced urban development keeping up with the demand of welfare, coming from the middle class. Tecnologica e interconnessa, in una parola sostenibile, confortevole, attrattiva, sicura in una parola “smart”: questa è come la smart city appare, un modello di città su cui l’Europa e il mondo, i governi stanno scommettendo per provvedere uno sviluppo urbano bilanciato tenendo in conto della domanda di welfare che proviene dalla classe media. Il modello smart city qui è descritto in accordo con i più recenti studi su tema. Indici e caratteristiche numeriche concretamente valutano il differente aspetto del modello nelle due analisi i cui risultati sono riportati e commentati nel presente capitolo.
