In the Middle Age, misogyny is a characteristic of many genres and poetic types. Examples are to be found even in Greece, especially in Crete during where the Venetocracy, where the considerable Italian influence is much evident in a lot of texts, like the misogynous Ἔπαινος τῶν γυναικῶν (Praise of Women). The recognition of some motifs and the relation between images of time and space can help to understand the use of topoi by the author and the original elaboration of elements derived from others genres and traditions, like the story of “incarcerated damsel”.

Abstract
In the Middle Age, misogyny is a characteristic of many genres and poetic types. Examples are to be found even in Greece, especially in Crete during where the Venetocracy, where the considerable Italian influence is much evident in a lot of texts, like the misogynous Ἔπαινος τῶν γυναικῶν (Praise of Women). The recognition of some motifs and the relation between images of time and space can help to understand the use of topoi by the author and the original elaboration of elements derived from others genres and traditions, like the story of “incarcerated damsel”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
