The author starts out with the observation on how the journal as literary genre is scarcely familiar in Latin-American writers. The case studied is that of Peruvian writer Julio Ramon Ribeyro whose journals shed light on his labours as writer and establish a close dialogue with his literary output, above all with his short stories and essays. Starting from the material known in "La tentacion del fracaso" it is possible to reflect on how the composition of the journal contributes to the making of the literary "persona" of Ribeyro an his identity as an individual involved in the literary calling. The entries in the journal take on an artistic nature with ther passing of time. The dialogue between writer and journal, at the beginning spontaneous and natural, will imply an artistic transfiguration, thus confirming that the journal is, for ibeyro, an exercice in writing, a scriptorial space which often acts as the starting point with the goal of establishing, or at least reinforcing, a dialogue with his reader.

Abstract
The dialogue between writer and journal, at the beginning spontaneous and natural, will imply an artistic transfiguration, thus confirming that the journal is, for ibeyro, an exercice in writing, a scriptorial space which often acts as the starting point with the goal of establishing, or at least reinforcing, a dialogue with his reader.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
