OMOCRIMINALIZZAZIONI. Omosessualità, violenza, giustizia

This book explores the relationship between homosexuality, violence and justice, showing how socio-legal and socio-criminological thought has helped to construct non-conforming sexualities and genders as moral, pathological or criminal problems, as threats to "normality". From a critique of the various "homocriminal" types that have emerged over time to the essentialising residues of classical and contemporary socio-criminological theories, from a critique of the concept of homophobia to an analysis of the limits of the criminal-justice response to hate crimes, from conversion therapies as practices for governing sexuality to violence in LGBT+ intimate relationships, the book interrogates the apparatuses that have produced normality, deviance and control. What emerges is a critical and accessible reading of the forms, both old and renewed, through which the hetero-cisnormative order defines who deserves recognition, protection and citizenship.
