Innovative RF High Power Combiners’ Design for High Frequency K_Ka Band systems_ PhD Luigi Miano_compressed.pdf

Descrizione: Several power divider and power combiner solutions operating in the K-Ka frequency band have been discussed. The high efficiency guarantees reduced heat generation, which can be easily managed in the proposed combining structures. These solutions can be employed in both civil and military applications, including radar and satellite systems, where high output power is required. The solutions proposed offer an excellent way to combine very high power level provided in applications in which there is a requirement of high power handling. For instance, by the time you have the requirement to transmit power radiating into the free space. In this case, the transmitting chain should be able not only to generate a huge amount of power but also to manage the power itself. The power generation is guaranteed by placing a high power amplifier in each way of the power divider section. Once the input signal gets splitted and amplified, the power combination section handles and ensures a correct way the power flows through the output port. The presented work has the aim to keep the focus on the high power structures that guarantee high power handling such as high level of miniaturization and integration in complex transmitting and receive systems.
