This volume collects the results of a teaching experiment in Architecture, developed starting from a relationship of comparison and exchange between different teaching approaches. An unavoidable fact for a high-level university education, carried out in a European dimension. The experience has confirmed the inseparability of the relationship between teaching and research, and has benefited from fruitful crossings that are established between the two terms in the field of urban design and architecture. The teaching objectives have included the establishment of an intensive design laboratory on the theme of forms of living in historical urban fabrics and the development of projects for residences and services at the episcopal seat of the Catedral de los Santos Niños Justo y Pastor of the Diocese of Alcalá de Henares. The educational comparison was conducted on different levels, in the dialogue between the two schools of architecture involved - Palermo (DARCH) and Madrid (ETSAM) - between teachers and students and between the students themselves within the individual design groups. An experience that also leveraged the value of travel, understood as the acquisition of a distance and as a discovery, confirmed as a powerful multiplier of attention, involvement and ideational stimulus.
