Paesaggi multipli per una biografia urbana : la fotografia commerciale e la fotografia sociale a New York city, tra la fine del XIX e gli inizi del XX secolo

The essay explores some photographic images shot by social and commercial photographers in New York. The first represented the workers life, while the others portrayed the transformations, the birth of skyscrapers, bridges, public spaces or parks. The contribution analyse, among the several photographers mentioned, the work of I. Underhill and J. A. Riis, comparing the different visions which, defining the Urban Paradigm, wrote the visual biography of the city and its multiple landscapes.
