AmannCánovasMaruri : architecture as eclectic pragmatism

Since 1987, Atxu Amann, Andres Cánovas, and Nicolás Maruri (ACM) share a small architectural office by the business name “Temperaturas Extremas”. Their work is characterized by a deeply variegated and eclectic design approach and ranges from restoration projects in archaeological sites to the construction of collective housing and small urban infrastructures. This book presents an overview and analysis of their main interventions, highlighting ACM’s focus on the urban attitude of their projects. They create collective places where the human body and its movement and relationships assume a deeply “democratic” and “communal” connotation. These contemporary spaces renovate the memory of the places in the present and generate new urban meanings.
