Food is now out of fashion. The kitchen is no longer used. And gastromania is depopulating in the low-cost provinces, invading the meanders of the most pop culture, not to mention trashy. But the discussion of food no longer interests anyone: opinion leaders, or self-styled leaders, raise their eyebrows at the story of yet another gourmet dinner; the old and new media yawn as they trashed the millionth press release announcing the gastronomic event of the year.

Abstract

Food is now out of fashion. The kitchen is no longer used. And gastromania is depopulating in the low-cost provinces, invading the meanders of the most pop culture, not to mention trashy. Thus, the petty bourgeois dining rooms are filled with ethnic recipe books, there is no housewife who does not take care of the plating of the seitan meatloaf, the neighborhood supermarkets overflow with organic products, smelling glasses of vintage red are stirred in the bars of the square of country, trembling local televisions zoom in on the details of extremely refined dishes, gloomy dieticians prescribe foods without dignity, tired tourists climb winding food and wine itineraries. But the discussion of food no longer interests anyone: opinion leaders, or self-styled leaders, raise their eyebrows at the story of yet another gourmet dinner; the old and new media yawn as they trashed the millionth press release announcing the gastronomic event of the year. To pay the price, with our stomachs, it is needless to say the food, just emerged from the modern glaciation and immediately thrust back into a mass mythology that, glorifying it as much as possible, neglects the truth. That is, quite simply, its political value.
