In the urban area of Palermo, the transit network will be enhanced by a Tram System, that is composed by three lines which connect some suburbs zones with two main railway nodes (Main Station and Notarbartolo Station); and also by a redouble of the railway crossing and closure of railway ring. The transit network will introduce the issue of reorganise the road public transport. In this contest a GIS approach was used to rationalize the road public transport supply. The road public transport routes were re-designed in term of tram routes and of new modal interchange nodes’ locations in the metropolitan. Further, a hierarchical logit demand model was calibrated by generalized least squares estimation approach, in order to appraise the modal choice of people, and hence the share of demand attracted by public transport. Abstract
The modal choice model was validated by an independent data set. The outcomes highlight an increase of public transport share of about 40%| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
