Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah was one of the leading intellectuals of Imamite Shiism of the twentieth century, and is part of that school of thought and action which, starting with 'Ali Shariati and passing through Baqir al-Sadr and Musa al-Sadr, illustrated contemporary Shiite thought. The publication of this commented anthology of Fadlallah's writings is particularly timely in the fortieth anniversary of Khomeini's Iranian revolution. Convinced of the need for science to be transformed into a gateway to action, Fadlallah's main thesis is that Islam rejects quietism and incites rebellion, since it is the Koran itself that mobilizes the oppressed according to the principle of power (quwa). A power that is the principle of a constituent movement for the good of all Islam. This book, the result of careful research in the field, makes use of translations from the original texts in Arabic never published before in Italy, opening an intriguing perspective that forces us to question ourselves beyond the stereotypes of Islam by nature violent and of the West «the only besieged fortress of civilization ".
