Salafism is one of the most misunderstood concerts of Islam: it is not an ideology or an organic doctrine, but a mental attitude and a way of life that wants to fully adhere to the example of the Prophet and his first companions, the Salaf precisely. Il salafismo è uno dei concerti dell'Islam più fraintesi: non è un'ideologia né una dottrina organica, ma un atteggiamento mentale e un modo di vita che vuole essere del tutto aderente all'esempio del Profeta e dei suoi primi compagni, i Salaf appunto. Si tratta di una visione del mondo conservatrice che ha percorso sotterraneamente tutta la storia dell'Islam, manifestandosi per lo più come tradizionalismo quietista, qualche volta come fenomeno politico o, più raramente ancora, jihadista.
