The project deals with the problem related to damaged settlements by the earthquake. In the specific case it is a "baglio": originally a fortified farm to resist the attacks of piracy; later a feudal control center. This baglio is known as Case Di Stefano, from the name of the last owners. The Municipality of Gibellina found it as the only pre-existence near the site chosen to rebuild the city, after the 1968 earthquake, and decided to recover it assuming, at that time, a generic destination as a cultural center. It was thought of a reconstruction that kept the project as close as possible to the original characteristics, starting from the elements of the survey and from the mnemonic description of the last owners. What we maintained was above all consolidated: the value of what was left was important as part of a "typology of plant", but, above all, “to shape a complex plant" by combining different parts as a “part” of city. This one seemed to be what should be preserved, this one is the possibility. And because it can be done, it needed to act radically on the same typology of the whole and of the parts, to find a new principle of connection between them and new links, more adequate to build the new program.

Abstract
And because it can be done, it needed to act radically on the same typology of the whole and of the parts, to find a new principle of connection between them and new links, more adequate to build the new program.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
