The first (pp. 35-139) part of the book consists of an extensive essay on “urban images” and on the description of cities and territories that emerge from novels and short stories. The second part (pp. 141-226) is composed of an anthology of literary fragments (from the 19th century to the present day), relating to the three cities studied. The work aims to understand how, in the analysis / knowledge / project procedure, in addition to traditional scientific contributions, literary "sources" are fundamental for understanding the city and its transformation, not only by increasing the corpus of documents, but through a different and fruitful form of expression.
