Abitare i luoghi dell'integrazione

The theme that the research in question investigates concerns the dwelling place in relation to the massive migratory flows that follow each other in the cities and which, in turn, shape new social and urban practices. History shows us how, always, the movement of peoples has led to developments both from the demographic, historical, cultural, and economic point of view within the countries, but at the same time has changed the urban space, as bearers. of cultures translated into forms. One thinks, in fact, of the many testimonies, still present in the cities, in which the various influences (from the Greek, Roman, Arab, Jewish, etc.) are evident, which stand as a value of memory and continuity. Compared to the past, today we are witnessing more and more often, to continuous forms of human mobility fleeing from wars, from poverty, from political repressions that determine new and unexpected spatial configurations. The cities today, are transformed into transit territory, but also of landing, of salvation, as happens - in particular - in the Sicilian coasts - which become places of hope, in the liquid space of the Mediterranean, for those arriving from the south. Starting from the survey of current and numerous migratory flows, the thesis aims to describe the transformations of the city and how its form has been able to respond to the issues related to reception and integration.

Il tema che la ricerca in questione indaga, riguarda l’abitare posto in relazione agli imponenti flussi migratori che si susseguono nelle città e che, configurano nuove pratiche sociali e urbane. La storia ci mostra come, da sempre, lo spostamento dei popoli abbia determinato sviluppi sia dal punto di vista demografico, storico, culturale, economico all’interno dei paesi ma, allo stesso tempo, ha modificato lo spazio urbano, in quanto portatori di culture tradotti in forme. Si pensi infatti, alle tante testimonianze, ancora presenti nelle città, in cui sono evidenti le diverse influenze (dal popolo greco, romano, arabo, ebreo, etc) che si pongono come valore di memoria e continuità. Rispetto al passato, oggi si assiste sempre più spesso, a continue forme di mobilità umane in fuga dalle guerre, dalla povertà, dalle repressioni politiche che, determinano, nuove e inattese configurazioni spaziali. Le città oggi, si trasformano in territorio di transito,
ma anche di approdo, di salvezza, come accade - in particolare - nelle coste siciliane - le quali divengono luoghi di speranza, nello spazio liquido del Mediterraneo, per chi arriva da sud.
 La tesi infatti, a partire dall’indagine degli attuali e numerosi flussi migratori, si pone l’obiettivo di descrivere le trasformazioni della città e come, la sua forma, sia stata capace di rispondere alle questioni legate all’accoglienza e all’integrazione.
