Fondare una città nella Sicilia di età moderna: dinamiche territoriali e tecniche operative

The essay, thanks to the use of new archival documentation, tries to shed some light on procedures and operating techniques underlying that extraordinary settlement phenomenon that would have lead in Sicily to the foundation, in two and a half centuries, between the Sixteenth and Eighteenth centuries, of over a hundred new towns and induced profound and radical transformation on its whole society.

Il saggio, grazie anche al ricorso a nuova documentazione archivistica, prova a fare luce su procedure e tecniche operative alla base di quello straordinario fenomeno insediativo che avrebbe condotto in Sicilia, nel giro di due secoli e mezzo, tra Cinque e Settecento, alla fondazione di oltre un centinaio di città nuove e indotto profonde e radicali trasformazioni sulla società nel suo insieme.
