On the Verge of the Animal World Within an animistic conception of nature in Miyazaki’s and Walt Disney’s animated films, this contribution intends to encounter very small beings such as tree spirits, mome raths and other almost-animals – Could they be fireflies? in order to investigate the essence of spirit-guides who, thagh though lacking language, are able in their collective decision making, to aid humans and guide them toward the right path.
