Les exercices gradués dans la méthode du Grammalessico francese a uso degl’italiani d’Arminio Wurmbrand Bianchi

The article proposes to analyze the exercises of Arminio Wurmbrand Bianchi’s manual, Grammalessico francese a uso degl’italiani, which have a form and a structure that one finds in many manuals inspired by the methods known as “synthetic”. Wurmbrand, indeed, introduced into the manual a novelty to provide the incompleteness of the synthetic method: before each exercise, it proposes, thereby, the translation of the only “radically dissimilar” terms of the two languages “similar to the origin” as the French language and the Italian language are between them. The goal is to provide students with lexical fluency in the French language with a particular focus on oral practice.
